On June 1, 2026, Generac completed the sale of its Mean Green electrified commercial mower business to Mowtech Partners, an affiliate of CADCo Distributors and an existing Mean Green distribution partner. CADCo leadership has yet to return my phone calls and questions about this acquisition.

In a statement, the company said that employees at the Mean Green manufacturing facility in Ohio have moved over to Mowtech Partners. The Mean Green business, including its product line, brand identity and dealer network, will continue under the new ownership.
It added, with the sale, Mowtech Partners assumes ownership of the Mean Green brand and its established dealer network, maintaining continuity for customers and channel partners while shifting operational control to a distributor aligned ownership group already active within the Mean Green ecosystem.
Will dealer contracts change?
I found this reporting by UK-based Service Dealer magazine, which quoted Guy Overton, director of UK distributor Overton Ltd., saying, “There will be no changes to our UK and Ireland distribution agreement and no dealer changes, so business as normal. Personally, we are delighted to be back working with the Conrad family who started the [Mean Green] business and we feel the service and support will be enhanced with their involvement.”

In a statement Service Dealer received, Matt Conrad, president of Mean Green Mowers, said, “This transition marks an exciting return to our roots as a focused, specialised design and manufacturing company. As part of this change, all core operations including engineering, product design, manufacturing, service support, parts, and sales will be centralised at our facility in Ross, Ohio, where Mean Green was originally founded. We are grateful for the guidance and support provided by Generac during our time together and value the experience we gained as part of their organisation.”
Matt continued, “Looking ahead, we are excited to accelerate the development of new and innovative products. Our focus remains on delivering quiet, eco-friendly solutions that compete directly with gas-powered equipment while providing meaningful performance and cost advantages to our customers.”
What is In Power watching next?
1. What will the Conrad family and the former Mean Green team do next?
2. Will Generac keep the DR Power brand of “chore products” as it grows into a much larger brand focused on energy storage and generators?
3. What is Mowtech Partners in the U.S., and will the Mowtech brand of mowers in Australia have any input on the naming?
